The  Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC), Ondo State Command, has warned that it will go tough on motorists who fail to install the speed limiting device in their vehicles.

The Sector Commander of the Corps, Ezekiel Son Allah, in a statement, gave the warming, saying that the enforcement was to reduce road crashes on the highways and within the state.

“We have commenced enforcement of the use of speed limiter by companies and commercial vehicles.

“From December till date, the command has arrested four commercial vehicles without speed limiter and were impounded for non-compliance with the use of the device in the state.

“Four vehicles out of those ones checked have installed the device. We are embarking on serious enforcement of the speed limiting device to reduce crashes.

“The good news is that we are also following up with companies and oganisations that have lots of vehicles to ensure they get their speed limiter fixed  with registered companies and I think it is yielding results with the Agro companies.

“We are on aggressive enforcement until every vehicle has done it. Anybody nabbed for Speed limiter offence will be asked to go for installation as the person will be booked for violation.

“We have built up areas like schools, markets and worship centers which are to have 30 Km per hour for accident free.

“We have different speed limiter for various vehicles. Cars are 90Km per hour, while buses are 80Km per hour. But on the highway, cars are to go 100km per hour, while buses would go 90km per hour,”he explained.
