WHAT IS YALI? The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) was launched by the United States government as a signature effort to invest in the next generation of African leaders. The need to invest in grooming strong, results-oriented leaders comes out of the statistics:  nearly 1 in 3 Africans are between the ages of 10 and 24, and approximately 60% of Africa’s total population is below the age of 35.  Who will empower and lead these young Africans?  Who will shape the future of business and entrepreneurship, civic leadership, and public management?  In order to answer these questions, YALI promotes three models designed to identify and empower young leaders:  the YALI Mandela Washington Fellowship , YALI Network  and now the establishment of Regional Leadership Centers across Africa. *Day 6. Today I am a Leader* When we talk about leadership, what comes to your mind?  Leadership is one thing. Leadership is thinking about the people you are leading ahead of yourself. It is about fighting for a better & glorious future for your followers. It is about having a clear written down vision of how the future will be like. Today stand up and choose to be counted in your community, your town, your city, your state, your country as a leader.  It is not easy to be a leader. It is easy to stay stagnant in your comfort zone and be a follower. But today choose to be a leader where you are. Take the mantle and lead by example because all your followers are watching your move.  Lead your followers to the truth and the right way.  Look for a cause or charity work that you can lead in and start leading because many people are waiting for you to take your place as their leader.  Everything you need to lead will be given to you as you are leading...
